Sotheby’s Institute of Art – London:
Found in the heart of Bloomsbury, the London campus is at the center of one of the world’s most important art capitals. The Institute is situated in Bedford Square, built between 1775 and 1783, one of the best preserved Georgian squares in London with a private central garden. The London Institute is part of the ‘larger academy’ of Bedford Square, located next door to premier educational institutions such as the Architectural Association and the Paul Mellon Centre, with the University of London and the British Museum in the neighbouring square. Sotheby’s auction house, the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Academy Of Arts? are a few minutes’ walk away. The Institute is also close to Mayfair, the traditional center of the London art market, where many dealers and galleries are located.
Sotheby’s auction house provides students with privileged access to pre-sale viewings, talks by experts, and handling sessions. In addition, students visit the many commercial galleries, artists’ studios and museums available in London. Such knowledge prepares students for a variety of careers in the art world.
London is a city of traditional and contemporary art museums, private collections and international commercial galleries. Sotheby’s auction house was founded in the city in 1744 and its London offices are now part of a global network encompassing Europe, Asia and America. In London, one of the world’s leading centers of higher education, students can enjoy a wide array of facilities and activities, including international cultural events and a vibrant art scene. Following a rigorous process of review in February 2016, the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) confirmed that “The Institute’s art world network gives students access to many outstanding professional speakers from a wide range of fields. The input of these speakers is often highly privileged and unavailable anywhere else. Students especially value the informal networking that follows any session with a professional or guest speaker”.
Sotheby’s Institute of Art – New York:

Internationally celebrated as the global hub for media, music, and entertainment, LA has emerged as an important center of contemporary visual and performing art as well. As a result, there is increasing demand in the region for astute, highly-trained and smart creatives who are able to meet the challenges of a global economy that is reshaping the way the arts are created, shared, promoted and consumed.
LA offers Master’s Degrees in Art Business and Arts Management. Choosing between both programs depends on the student’s career aspirations and educational interests.

Art Business students typically pursue careers as gallerists, auction specialists, advisors, and curators, as well as positions with art fairs, art magazines, public relations firms, museums and arts organizations.
Arts Management focuses on performing arts organizations and museums, as well as on the nonprofit infrastructure of arts and cultural organizations more broadly. Arts Management students typically pursue careers in program management and development, audience engagement and outreach, fundraising for the arts, arts education, arts policy and research, and arts access.
