For how long have been in photography? How did you start? I came to professional photography at the age of 30. Apparently in my case it was something like a cure for a middle age crisis. It helped indeed and my life filled with new meaning.

How would you define yourself as an artist?
I am not sure that I am an artist now. Way to the artist never ends I think.

Where do you find inspiration? Everywhere. In real life, in movies, in works of other photographers and painters.

Is Brainstorming not the only creative method use to create new concepts? I don’t like Brainstorming. The last time I used it was while I was studying at university, and I am glad those days are gone.

Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? Digital technologies made photography very accessible. Billions of photos are taken every day. However there are few good shots among them. In the past it was the same. A good photo is an author’s message to the world. Photographers should mature for such a photo, put their heart into it. It is not a question of technologies but a photographer’s inner world, which is transmitted through his or her art.

What type of camera do you use most? For 80% of my shootings I use Canon 5D Mark III

What is your favorite lens? Several years I use Canon 50mm fixed lens in most cases. Now I use 35mm and 50mm lens.

What has been your most memorable assignment and why?

What are your favourite three images you have shot recently? I generally like the photos I have shot recently. If you don’t like them,

what’s the purpose in taking them? At the moment I most like the photos from the photo shoot I had 2 weeks ago.

How important is an awesome website for your business? I do not have awesome website, so I do not know.

What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have? Critical eye for his shots.

Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? The most satisfaction comes from the projects that are purely artistic. When you are not constrained by client’s requirements and may tell a photo story the way you see it. Judging from my experience these projects become a great success and very popular with the audience.

List of your clients? Some Russian companies and magazines that you don’t know about for sure. I see no sense in listing them.

Who are the photographer’s you admire the most? Robert Mapplethorpe, Ellen von Unwerth, Herb Ritts, Howard Schatz ? Klaus Kampert.

What are your next projects? Talking about your plans is a bad omen. I may say that now I am working on a project that is something very new for me. I like it already, and I hope the audience will like it too when it’s finished.
